Tools and Hardware Reviews of Panasonic NI-L45NR Cordless IronCustomer Review: Still a great iron after three years! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this iron about three years ago to use for travel and to use as a convenience iron (for ironing just a few items). I really didn't expect it to be good for prolonged or heavy use as I assumed it would take too long for the iron to re-heat. To my pleasant surprise, I was wrong. This iron can be used for long periods on full steam, and is the only iron I use now. The iron stays hot long enough to work on large areas and, when it comes time to adjust the item you are working on, place the iron onto it's cradle and in a few seconds it has fully re-heated and is ready to use again, no waiting. The non-stick sole plate is nice for delicate fabric, but the iron will remove wrinkles from even the heaviest denim.
The water tank, located on the front, can be quickly removed so that you can get into shirt sleeves, pant legs and other tight spots. Removing the water tank also allows for easy refilling. I always use purified water to avoid problems with mineral build-up and potential leaks. The auto shut-off is nice and you wont have to worry that you left the iron on. The retractable cord is convenient and is located in the base of the cradle. When you are finished, and the iron has cooled some, simply unplug and retract the cord into the base, lower the hard case cover, by the handle, over the iron until it locks onto the base. You can immediately pick it up and store it away. The case is quite durable and has never failed me by accidentally unlatching. This iron is well made and quite durable.
Customer Review: Go cordless! Summary: 5 Stars
I agree what other reviewers say - no cord is great, and the iron remains hot enough to last through most of my ironing.
The water tank is detachable, but since the iron is cordless, to refill the water tank I just take the whole iron to the tap and fill it up directly, and the tank lasts a very long time on medium steam anyway. Another good thing about this iron is the water tank is dripless. I used to have a Black and Decker iron that leaks water from the steam vents, and I just expect all steam irons do that. But not a single drop of water dripped out of the steam vent when I travel between the sink and the ironing board, so it is not making a mess!
I don't have any problem with the retractable cord at the base, as several other reviewers do. You just have to pull it out a little bit to activate the spring and it retracts with no problem. The cord is on the short side (only 3-4 feet long) and I am used to longer cords, but that only means I have to put the base closer to the power outlet.
My only concern is that the contacts between the base and the iron do not look very sturdy, so the iron might not be able to get heated up enough after some use. Right now it is not a problem, I will see how that goes after several months.
Overall, this iron is terrific! I will never want to have another iron with cords again!
Customer Review: One of the best Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this little sucker a couple of months ago to replace our family's defective $20 Wal-Mart iron. To say the least I was surprised! It was a little lighter than what I was use to, but it puts out a powerful jet of steam on the highest steam setting. So much so that it almost lept out of my hands during the first use! I like how the heat setting is NOT tied to the steam setting. The steam setting is separate giving you even more control. Steam on silk? Sure! Wouldn't recommend it though.
It takes a little time to get use to putting the iron back on the charging unit. The manual, which I think one or two reviewers didn't read, tells you to simply set it back when you move the article of clothing. Though, you may need to let it heat up for a minute or two before using it.
Worried about a water seal? No problem. This sucker hasn't leaked yet, and I don't expect it to.
If you want an iron that's extremely flexible, consistent steam power, some excellent features, all for the right price, this is the iron for you!
Customer Review: If you gotta iron or even likeit, this is the ULTIMATE IRON Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever looked for something that needs ironing just so you can use your new cordless Panasonic Iron...?! Well, that may be a stretch but I have to say that I don't mind the task with this very well-designed, user-friendly ironing instrument. Hallelujah!!
I am nearly sixty years old; a man who has always ironed his own clothes, starting at about age six (an early fashion plate, or so I thot :-o)! Times have changed; this iron is proof that we continue to do somethings better and better. If only we could iron out world hunger, world strife and world peace as easily as the wrinkles in my shirt. Hope must never die.
Honestly, this is a fantastic tool designed to make the arduous task more enjoyable. If only they made ironing boards as well.

and the best thing may be that this cordless beauty is PURPLE!
Happy me.
Customer Review: Why did I wait so long to buy this iron???? WOW! Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this iron. I am a quilter and I often have the iron on all day long and am using it constantly.
This iron gets HOT and fast too! I'm confused when I see people who say it doesn't get hot, I use it on cotton all day long and it's perfect, even handles linen easily.
When I put the iron down to turn my fabric or turn a sleeve around, I just pop it into it's charger and by the time I pick it up again it's nice and hot and ready to go.
I also really like that it will turn off when it's not been used for a bit, but when I step over to use it again it heats up sooo fast.
Ironing without a cord to get in ones way is fabulous. I am a left handed ironer and this just makes everything go faster and easier.
The shot of steam will literally almost knock my fabric right off the board!
The only regret that I have is that I didn't buy it soooo much sooner.
