After reading the reviews on this iron I had some relunctance in purchasing one (heavy, detachable water compartment). However, I love this iron! I do a lot of sewing and I actually iron all my clothes so I use the iron constantly. The heaviness enhances the iron's ability to get all the wrinkles out without a lot of effort on my part. The detachable water compartment is so convenient - just take it to the sink and fill; no more having to take a container of water to the iron and hope you don't spill part of it on the ironing board. I also prefer the stainless soleplate to the teflon coated ones. I would highly recommend this product.Customer Review: Great Iron

I purchased this iron about 2 months ago and so far it is one of the best irons I have ever used. I love the retractable cord and that you are able to take the water reservoir right off and fill it at the sink. You can even do it while it is on (although it states you should shut it off first) I have had no leaks and no stains from water on clothes while using this so far and the steam function is the best I have seen. I have purchased high end (Rowenta) and lower end (Black & Decker) and at this price I was pleasantly surprised at how great this iron really is. This Iron(Panasonic NI-C78SR) has been the best iron ever,it's the second time I purchase a iron just like this one, the first time I bought it was 8 yrs ago,it was always an excellent iron, it never dripped water,or left any stains in your clothes like other irons do. I looked all over for an iron just like this one, but it looks like stores don't carry it any more.
You can only find it on-line. I got mine through AMAZON.COM. I am very happy with it, I'm so glad I found it again. I even feel like purchasing one more and have it as a back-up in the future.
I give this iron a 5 star rate, it's the best one ever!

This iron replaced a thirty five year old Sears iron which never stopped sputtering and leaking. So it was a joy to use this iron which delivers tons of steam and never leaks. It is just the right weight to do the job, yet it is not too heavy. Although I like the retractable cord, it can be a little disconcerting because the spring is so strong; I just restrain its zeal with my hand. Because I live in a hard water area, I am using distilled water to protect its little innards. Ironing is never too much fun but this one makes short work of a necessary household chore.Customer Review: Ironing Zen

I have always found ironing to be a zen moment for me. I can relax and recharge as I achieve tangible results. I can relax and enjoy the moment.
For too long, I tolerated the frustration of an iron that had cracked and had a broken thermostat. When I received this Panasonic iron, the performance matched and surpassed the previous reviews. It is well worth a little more money to have such a smooth, expert result from this iron. I like the optional hanging steam feature even though I don't use it very often.
Definitely, worth the buy!
