All suction and no nonsense, the Heavy-Duty Plus upright vacuum from Panasonic is made for edge-to-edge cleaning with a straightforward, mostly metal construction. Built for carpeted floors, the 10-amp machine features an efficiently wide 14-inch cleaning path, automatic rotating agitators, and automatic height adjustment in the floor nozzle. The bagged dirt collection uses a five-stage filtering system to trap tiny particulates, and an indicator on the front of the hatch lets you know when it's time to check or change the bag. To accommodate variation in carpet type, the vacuum offers the choice between high and low suction, controlled by a sliding knob on the front. A rocker switch controls power, and a foot pedal releases the handle. The vacuum's ample 50-foot power cord wraps on a single metal hook on the metal handle and fastens with the attached snapping cord band. In spite of its no-frills approach, the vacuum does include some nice features, like the furniture guard, carrying handle, automatically adjusting floor nozzle, and motor-protection system that opens to prevent overheating. The suction inlet is equipped for a hose and tools if you decide to purchase them separately. This is one of the best vacuumes I have ever owned, I have had it for a little over two years now, and it still works as good as the day I bought it. We have 3 large dogs that are always shedding, and this is the only vacuum that I have owned that pulls all of the hair out of the carpet on the first, or in heavily concentrated spots, like where they loungs, the second pass. I love it, I have owned other popular brands and paid much more for them, but they don't work as well, and break.
